The Oaks Dance Studio · Santaquin, Utah

Pre-Pointe and Pointe: earned, then taught

Pointe at The Oaks is earned: dancers are 12 or older with instructor approval, already in a weekly ballet technique class, and past the studio's pointe-shoe test (student information, portal). Pre-Pointe (ages 10–14) builds the ankle and foot strength that comes first. Pointe meets Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m. at the Apple Valley studio, one hour, $52 a month.

Roots before height

A clear path to grow.

Head Start

Your instructor confirms readiness for Head Start through individual placement. Contact the studio to discuss your dancer’s experience.

Creative, Tiny, Parent & Me, Pointe, Adult, and Company classes sit alongside this ladder. Pointe requires a technique class and passing a test.

Who it’s for

Ages 10–14 (Pre-Pointe), Growing Oaks and Teens with instructor approval (Pointe)

What dancers learn

Pre-Pointe — theraband foot work, relevé strength, alignment through the ankle, rises at the barre in soft shoes, how pointe shoes are fitted and sewn. Pointe — barre en pointe, échappés, relevés in all positions, pas de bourrée, bourrées, then center work as strength allows.

A few good questions

What families ask.

When is a dancer ready for pointe?

At 12 or older, with the instructor's approval, after the pointe-shoe test — the studio's published rule.

Can my dancer take Pointe without another ballet class?

No; Pointe at The Oaks requires a weekly ballet technique class alongside it, for strength and safety.

How long do pointe shoes last?

For a beginner dancing one hour a week, several months; the instructor will tell you when they have softened too far.
