Who

Ages 3–5 (Tiny Tutu / Head Start), Saplings and Growing Oaks (Beginning 1–3, Intermediate 2), Teens (Advanced), Adults (Adult Beginning Ballet, Adult Ballet)

What dancers learn

Ages 3–5 — the five positions, plié and relevé at the barre, skips and gallops across the floor, listening to music counts, taking turns. Beginning — barre work (plié, tendu, dégagé, rond de jambe), port de bras, sautés, chassé, the vocabulary names. Intermediate — adagio, pirouettes from fourth and fifth, petit allegro, grand allegro combinations, musicality and performance quality. Advanced — a 90-minute class with full barre and center, turns en diagonale, grand allegro, variations, and the strength work that prepares for pointe. Adults — the same barre at a conversational pace; Adult Beginning Ballet assumes no experience.

What to wear

Girls: pink tights, ballet shoes, and a leotard of any color; skirts are fine, full dresses only on announced holidays; hair in a bun. Boys: gym shorts or athletic pants, a T-shirt, and black or tan ballet slippers. Pointe: a leotard that lets the teacher see alignment, pink tights, and ballet slippers. Everyone: clothing that is well-fitting, not excessively loose, and covers the chest, stomach, and midriff — the studio's published dress code (student information and its class-details document).

What it costs

$28 a month for the 30-minute class; $52 a month for one hour a week; a dancer taking Advanced Ballet (90 minutes) plus a second class uses the 2- or 3-hour tier — the calculator shows the exact figure. Registration $25 ($40 family maximum). Two costumes a year, one for each show.

A few good questions

What families ask.

What age should my child start ballet?

Three is the youngest age for ballet, in Tiny Tutu Ballet (ages 3–5); two-year-olds start in Creative Combo (ages 2–5). Most children are ready when they can follow a two-step instruction and separate from a parent for 30 minutes.

What is the Cecchetti method?

A classical ballet training system built on a defined syllabus of exercises taught in a set progression, so each class builds on the last.

Do boys take ballet?

Yes. Boys wear gym shorts or athletic pants, a T-shirt, and black or tan ballet slippers — the studio's dress code.
